This policy explains how FindParkPay Ltd uses personal information when you use BuzzPay or contact us. BuzzPay lets you pay for parking online without creating an account.

FindParkPay Ltd is the data controller for personal information we use to operate the BuzzPay payment service, provide customer support, protect our systems and meet our legal and accounting obligations.

The relevant car park operator is responsible for the car park, its parking conditions and enforcement. In some arrangements, FindParkPay may process information on an operator’s behalf under that operator’s instructions.

Information we collect

Depending on how you use BuzzPay, we may collect:

  • Your vehicle registration number.
  • The car park or location code, tariff, parking session start and expiry times, and payment status.
  • Your email address, to send a receipt, relevant parking messages and replies to your enquiries.
  • Your mobile telephone number if you choose to buy an optional SMS parking reminder.
  • Payment references and transaction information needed to confirm and reconcile a payment.
  • Information you provide when contacting us, such as your name, contact details and the details of your enquiry.
  • Technical information about your visit to our websites, such as your IP address, browser and device information, and pages visited. This may be recorded in server logs for security and service operation.

Payment card information

Payment card details are processed by our payment service provider. FindParkPay does not receive or store your full card number or security code. We receive payment references and transaction information needed to confirm the payment, manage the parking session and handle related enquiries.

How we use your information

We use personal information to:

  • Process and confirm parking payments and link them to the correct parking session.
  • Send payment receipts and relevant parking messages by email.
  • Send an SMS parking expiry reminder if you choose to buy one.
  • Make parking session information available to the relevant operator or its enforcement agent so they can check and manage parking at the location.
  • Investigate payment, refund, support and enforcement enquiries.
  • Protect the service, investigate suspected fraud or misuse, and keep appropriate business, accounting and transaction records.
  • Maintain the security and operation of our websites and payment service.
  • Meet legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.

We currently use email for service communications. We do not use vehicle registration numbers, email addresses or mobile numbers collected through parking checkout to send marketing. Optional SMS reminders are service messages and are not used for marketing.

Our lawful bases

We rely on the following lawful bases, depending on the purpose:

  • Contract: to take your parking payment and provide the parking payment service or an optional SMS reminder you have purchased.
  • Legitimate interests: to operate and secure BuzzPay, reconcile transactions, provide support, investigate disputes and share relevant session information with the operator or enforcement agent. We consider the effect on people when relying on this basis.
  • Legal obligation: to keep or disclose information where the law requires us to do so.

Who we share information with

We share only the information needed for the relevant purpose. This may include:

  • Payment service providers: to process card details and return payment confirmations and transaction references.
  • SMS service providers: if you buy an SMS reminder, to send it using your mobile number and relevant parking-session details.
  • The relevant car park operator and its enforcement agent: to check and manage parking sessions and investigate related enquiries.
  • Website, email and customer-support providers: to host and maintain BuzzPay, send service emails and help us handle enquiries.
  • Authorities or other parties: where we are legally required to disclose information or need to do so to investigate suspected fraud or protect our rights.

Our service providers may use personal information only to provide services to us and must protect it appropriately.

SMS reminders

SMS parking reminders are optional and carry an additional charge shown before you pay. If you choose one, our SMS service provider receives your mobile number and the parking details needed to send the reminder. The message may include your vehicle registration, parking location, expiry time and a link to extend your stay where an extension is available.

Customer reminder numbers, message records and delivery logs held by our SMS service provider are set for deletion after 12 months, including from backups. Operational contact-group numbers are managed separately and removed when no longer needed.

How long we keep information

We keep personal information only for as long as it is needed for the purposes described in this policy.

  • Parking session, payment and related transaction records may be kept for up to six years where needed for accounting, audit, payment reconciliation, fraud prevention or handling disputes and legal claims.
  • Customer SMS reminder numbers, message records and delivery logs are set for deletion after 12 months, including from backups, as described above.
  • Support and enquiry information is kept for as long as needed to deal with the enquiry and any related matter. We may retain relevant records for longer where they form part of a transaction, dispute or legal claim.
  • Security and server logs are kept only for as long as needed to protect and operate the service.

When information is no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it where reasonably possible.

Cookies

Our websites may use cookies or similar technologies where they are needed for the secure operation of the website or payment service and analytics.

Keeping information secure

We use technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal information against unauthorised access, loss or misuse. No internet service can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Your data protection rights

Depending on the circumstances, you may have the right to:

  • Ask for a copy of your personal information.
  • Ask us to correct inaccurate information.
  • Ask us to erase information or restrict how we use it.
  • Object to certain uses of your information.
  • Ask for information you provided to us to be transferred to you or another organisation, where the right applies.
